Customer Story
Monthly Submissions Processed
A global specialty insurance carrier operating across North America, London, Europe, and Asia Pacific set out to modernize how underwriting submissions enter and move through its operations. With approximately 10,000 submissions arriving each month across more than 30 lines of business, the carrier relied on a combination of offshore extraction services and internal validation tools to process complex documents such as broker presentations, applications, and lengthy PDF submissions. To improve accuracy, increase straight-through processing, and establish a scalable operational foundation, the carrier partnered with Indico Data and implemented Indicoās Intake & Orchestration Platform for insurance. By introducing a flexible intake layer that integrates directly with existing systems, the carrier accelerated underwriting workflows, improved data quality, and created a production-ready foundation for global operational scale.
Problem
The carrier relied on a third-party offshore extraction provider integrated with an internally built validation tool to process underwriting submissions. Data extracted from broker emails and attached documents was routed into the legacy system where underwriting operations teams manually reviewed and validated individual fields before sending the information into downstream pricing systems. Accuracy levels were low and expanding the workflow to support additional document types or use cases proved difficult. As submission volumes grew across regions and lines of business, the process created operational bottlenecks that slowed underwriting responsiveness and limited the carrierās ability to scale intake efficiently.
Solution
After a competitive evaluation that included multiple proofs of concept, the carrier selected Indico Dataās Intake & Orchestration Platform to modernize submission intake without disrupting existing workflows. Indico was deployed in a headless architecture that integrated directly into the carrierās internal validation interface and downstream systems. The platform automatically ingests submission emails and attachments, extracts key data, and delivers structured outputs aligned to the carrierās defined data schema. Using production-ready Agents from Agent Studio and Agent Gallery, the carrier rapidly deployed an intake workflow that could scale globally while maintaining full control over configuration and future development.
Results
With Indico in production, the carrier now processes high volumes of underwriting submissions reliably across regions and lines of business. Clean, system-ready data is delivered faster into downstream underwriting systems, increasing straight-through processing and reducing manual review effort. Implementation was completed with minimal business disruption, allowing teams to maintain existing workflows while modernizing intake capabilities. By establishing Indico as the intake and orchestration layer for underwriting operations, the carrier created a scalable platform foundation that supports expansion into additional document types, new data elements, and future operational automation initiatives.
